Complications after Oncoplastic Breast Reduction and Impact on Time to Adjuvant Therapy.

Background: Although lumpectomy with oncoplastic breast reduction (OBR) improves cosmetic results and ameliorates symptomatic macromastia, associated complications may delay adjuvant therapy.

Methods: This was a single-institution, retrospective study of OBRs (2015-2021). A major complication was defined as need for IV antibiotics, and/or operation under general anesthesia.

Design and Construction of a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein (DARPin) Display Library.

Protein display systems are powerful techniques used to identify protein molecules that bind with high affinity to target proteins of interest. The initial challenge in implementing a display system is the construction of a high-diversity naïve library. Here, we describe the methods to generate a designed ankyrin repeat protein (DARPin) display library using degenerate oligonucleotides.

Cell-Penetrating Milk-Derived Peptides with a Non-Inflammatory Profile.

Milk-derived peptides are known to confer anti-inflammatory effects. We hypothesised that milk-derived cell-penetrating peptides might modulate inflammation in useful ways. Using computational techniques, we identified and synthesised peptides from the milk protein Alpha-S1-casein that were predicted to be cell-penetrating using a machine learning predictor.

Risk stratification of surgical-site outcomes by BMI and flap type in autologous breast reconstruction.

Introduction: Afflicting 2 million lives annually worldwide, breast cancer remains devastating. This study utilized a continuously updated network of electronic medical records (TriNetX Inc, Cambridge, MA) for analysis of 90-day postoperative outcomes of autologous breast reconstruction by increasing body mass index (BMI).

Methods: The deidentified electronic medical records (EMRs) of 29,453,000 females, age 18-99 years, were retrospectively screened from 45 healthcare organizations.
