Optimal Conspicuity of Liver Metastases in Virtual Monochromatic Imaging Reconstructions on a Novel Photon-Counting Detector CT-Effect of keV Settings and BMI.

In dual-energy CT datasets, the conspicuity of liver metastases can be enhanced by virtual monoenergetic imaging (VMI) reconstructions at low keV levels. Our study investigated whether this effect can be reproduced in photon-counting detector CT (PCD-CT) datasets. We analyzed 100 patients with liver metastases who had undergone contrast-enhanced CT of the abdomen on a PCD-CT ( = 50) or energy-integrating detector CT (EID-CT, single-energy mode, = 50).

Large Vessel Vasculitis as a Possible Mechanism of Vascular Side Effects of Ponatinib: A Case Report.

Arterial occlusive events (AOEs) such as cerebrovascular, cardiovascular and peripheral arterial events are known side effects of ponatinib, assumed due to the rapid development and increase of arteriosclerosis, while the definitive pathomechanisms therefore are still unclear. We present a case of clinically apparent large vessel vasculitis and discuss this phenomenon as a possible mechanism of AOEs beside arteriosclerosis.

Drug induced interstitial lung disease.

With an increasing number of therapeutic drugs, the list of drugs that is responsible for severe pulmonary disease also grows. Many drugs have been associated with pulmonary complications of various types, including interstitial inflammation and fibrosis, bronchospasm, pulmonary edema, and pleural effusions. Drug-induced interstitial lung disease (DILD) can be caused by chemotherapeutic agents, antibiotics, antiarrhythmic drugs, and immunosuppressive agents.

Central thromboembolism is a possible predictor of right heart dysfunction in normotensive patients with acute pulmonary embolism.

Background: Right heart dysfunction is a crucial factor in risk stratification of normotensive patients with pulmonary embolism. Apart from biomarkers, determinants of right heart dysfunction in this group of patients are not yet well established.

Aim And Method: In order to identify such determinants, we analysed data of 252 patients with acute pulmonary embolism admitted to our hospital in 2008.
