Purpose: Radiofrequency ablation has been used to treat chronic shoulder pain with mixed results. Thanks to recent anatomical studies, the precise location of articular branches of the suprascapular, lateropectoral and axillary nerves has been determined. Cooled radiofrequency is a neuroablative modality of treatment which has been demonstrated as efficient in different anatomical locations, and targeting the aforementioned nerves could result in a complete and efficient denervation of the shoulder.

Interior exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport's (InSight) seismometer package Seismic Experiment for Interior Structure (SEIS) was placed on the surface of Mars at about 1.2 m distance from the thermal properties instrument Heat flow and Physical Properties Package (HP) that includes a self-hammering probe. Recording the hammering noise with SEIS provided a unique opportunity to estimate the seismic wave velocities of the shallow regolith at the landing site.

Article Synopsis
  • Surgical specialty hospitals offer a streamlined process for elective surgeries like total hip and knee arthroplasties, but may struggle with postoperative complications.
  • A study analyzed patients transferred from a specialty hospital to a tertiary care facility after these surgeries, finding a higher rate of readmissions (15.2%) among transferred patients compared to non-transferred ones (4.3%).
  • While there was no significant difference in orthopedic complications, transferred patients showed a considerably greater rate of medical complications (13% vs 2.2%), highlighting the need for more careful monitoring post-surgery.
