Introduction: Acromioclavicular (AC) joint injuries pose significant challenges in clinical management, necessitating consensus guidelines for optimal treatment. There is a lack of consensus in several areas, including imaging protocols, surgical techniques, and rehabilitation timelines. This study aims to develop a consensus regarding the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of AC joint separations.

Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio at diagnosis predicts colonoscopic activity in pediatric inflammatory bowel diseases (pIBD).

Background: Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a novel biomarker studied in several autoimmune diseases including inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) in adults, but poorly characterized in pediatric IBD (pIBD). We aimed to primarily investigate the relationship between NLR and pIBD endoscopic disease severity. We also examined whether NLR predicted hospitalization, surgery, and therapy response by 52 weeks.

A Review of Anemia Prevalence, and Prevention and Control Strategies, in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Region.

Anemia is a global public health and nutrition problem. However, data on its prevalence and potential causal factors in the 22 countries of the UNICEF Europe and Central Asia region are not systematically collected, analyzed, and reported, leading to challenges in formulating appropriate preventative strategies. We examined available anemia prevalence data among different population groups through reviewing survey reports from 2010 to 2022; conducted a literature review to explore underlying determinants of anemia including iron deficiency; and collated and reviewed program and policy documentation across the region.

Bolstering connectedness through peer support: Randomized-controlled trial of a web-based peer support program for adolescents with inflammatory bowel disease.

Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic autoimmune disease often diagnosed during adolescence. IBD negatively impacts all aspects of health-related quality of life, resulting in physical, emotional, social, school, and work functioning challenges. Adolescents have identified the need for peer support in managing their disease and promoting positive health outcomes.

Improvement of Transmural Inflammation With Adalimumab Versus Immunomodulator Maintenance Therapy in Pediatric Crohn's Disease: Single-Center Prospective Evaluation Using the Pediatric Inflammatory Crohn's Magnetic Resonance Enterography Index.

Background And Aims: Transmural healing, including as assessed by magnetic resonance enterography (MRE) has been associated with long-term favorable outcomes in Crohn's Disease (CD), but data concerning MRE improvement and normalization with therapy are sparse. We performed a prospective longitudinal study utilizing the recently developed pediatric MRE-based multi-item measure of inflammation (PICMI) to examine the efficacy of adalimumab (ADA) and immunomodulator (IM) in attaining improvement of transmural inflammation of the small intestine.

Methods: Pediatric patients with CD involving small bowel and initiating ADA or IM were prospectively enrolled and followed with repeat MRE at 1 year.
