Disseminated Infection and Hyperammonemic Encephalopathy in a Patient With Activated PI3K Delta Syndrome 2.

Hyperammonemia syndrome (HS) from infection is typically reported in posttransplant recipients, particularly lung transplant. We describe a young woman with activated PI3K delta syndrome 2 who presented with HS from disseminated infection with septic arthritis. We also performed a literature review of -associated HS in nontransplant patients.

Buprenorphine blunts inflammatory response and wound progression after skin exposure to nitrogen mustard.

Opioid analgesics are often used to alleviate pain in rodent models of skin wound injury and repair. However, previous studies have demonstrated that opioids can alter the inflammatory response to injury and subsequent wound healing. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of different formulations of buprenorphine on mouse behaviour, inflammatory response and wound progression following skin exposure to nitrogen mustard (NM).

Markers for Pressure Injury Risk in Individuals with Chronic Spinal Cord Injury: A Pilot Study.

Objective: To identify markers associated with pressure injury (PrI) history in individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) using two approaches: skin blood flow (SBF) response toward localized heating, and serum marker for insulin resistance.

Methods: For this cross-sectional, observational study of adults with chronic traumatic SCI at T12 and above, researchers recruited two groups of participants: with history of PrI (group 1), and without history of PrI (group 2). The study protocol included obtaining fasting blood samples and measurement of SBF at bilateral heels with localized heating of 42 °C for 30 minutes from all participants.
