The planum temporale is a triangular region on the upper surface of the temporal lobe. This area of the brain is important for language processing and shows a left-right asymmetry of size in most brains. Particular interest has been focused on the size and asymmetry of the planum temporale in brains of individuals with developmental dyslexia.

This very rare breast tumour has been diagnosed in five cases, four females and one male, at our hospital during the last two years. The females all presented tumours with a diameter ranging from 5 to 15 cm. Age at diagnosis ranged from 21 to 54 years.

Sex, localization, level of invasion, cross-sectional profile and ulceration were found to have marked prognostic value.
