Preserving Creativity in Nurse Education.

In this column on the humanbecoming teaching-learning model, the author explores creativity in nurse education as an alternative to routinized learning strategies. There is an explanation of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials, domains, competencies, subcompetencies, concepts, and spheres of care, followed by an explanation of competency-based education. These topics are contrasted with the humanbecoming paradigm and the humanbecoming teaching-learning model.

New approaches in bovine spermatozoa evaluation and their relationship with male fertility.

Male fertility potential depends on physical, endocrine, and genetic factors responsible for producing functional male gametes. Although the main function of the male gamete, the spermatozoon, is to deliver its genetic material to the oocyte, this premise has been modified over the past few years. It is believed that the spermatozoon provides essential factors for fertilization and pre-implantation embryo development.

Laboratory Experiments Suggest a Limited Impact of Increased Nitrogen Deposition on Snow Algae Blooms.

Snow algal blooms decrease snow albedo and increase local melt rates. However, the causes behind the size and frequency of these blooms are still not well understood. One factor likely contributing is nutrient availability, specifically nitrogen and phosphorus.

From colours to cravings: Exploring conditioned colour preference to ethanol in zebrafish.

Conditioned preference paradigms like conditioned colour preference tests (CCP) can be used to investigate addictive drug seeking in zebrafish (Danio rerio), but many aspects of this procedure require further study. Conditioned preference can be tested with either biased or unbiased conditioning methods, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. The present study used unbiased stimuli to test seeking behaviour in ethanol-exposed zebrafish at different durations of drug withdrawal.
