Multiple schwannomas of bilateral posterior tibial nerves - A case report and review of literature.

Introduction: Schwannoma is a type of slow growing benign nerve sheath tumor arising from Schwann cells. Peripherally, they are found in association with the ulnar, sciatic and posterior tibial nerves. Peripheral schwannomas, neurofibromas and malignant PNSTs are collectively grouped as peripheral nerve sheath tumors.

Introduction: Endometriosis is a common gynaecologcial disorder and is characterized by the presence and implantation of endometrial epithelium and glandular stroma in an extrauterine location Intraspinal endometriosis can involve the intramedullary, subarachnoid, intradural-extramedullary, and extradural compartments, including the vertebral bodies. Symptoms due to intraspinal endometriosis will vary depending on the location and degree of compression of neural structures and will fluctuate with the menstrual cycle.

Bony Metastasis to the Radius as the Initial Presentation of a Lung Adenocarcinoma.

When considering tumors of the bone, metastatic disease from a distant primary is more common than primary tumors of the bone itself. The commonest sites to which skeletal metastasis occur are in the axial skeleton, and with regard to the appendicular skeleton, metastasis to the forearm bones is uncommon. Almost a third of patients who present with skeletal metastases do not have any evidence of their primary tumor at presentation.

Evaluation of five circulating strains of variant infectious bursal disease virus (varIBDV) for their immunogenicity as broiler breeder vaccines and protective efficacy in neonatal broiler chicks.

The majority of infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) strains circulating in the broiler chicken industry in Canada are variant strains (varIBDV). Despite high levels of maternally derived antibodies (MtAb), the circulating varIBDVs can establish infection and cause severe immunosuppression in broiler chicks. The objective of this study was to evaluate circulating varIBDVs as broiler breeder vaccine candidates and investigate their protective efficacy against varIBDV challenge in their progeny chicks.

Exposure of embryonating eggs to Enterococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli potentiates E. coli pathogenicity and increases mortality of neonatal chickens.

Enterococci and Escherichia coli are opportunistic pathogens of poultry and are associated with embryo and neonatal chick mortality. We have recently demonstrated that 56% of dead broiler chicken embryos in commercial hatcheries in western Canada were due to the coinfection of Enterococcus species and E. coli.
