Immune cells in the pancreas are known to participate in organ development. However, the resident pancreatic immune system has yet to be fully defined. Immune cells also play a role in pathology and are implicated in diseases such as diabetes induced by intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR).

With the increased use of implanted cardiac devices and indwelling central venous catheters, SVC syndrome from a benign cause has become quite common. This report follows a 62-year-old female who was initially admitted to the critical care unit for treatment of angioedema without a history of malignancy but was found to have a surgically placed port used to treat her rheumatoid arthritis.

While abnormal placental pathology resulting from COVID-19 is common, direct infection of the placenta is rare. This suggests that pathophysiology associated with maternal COVID-19, rather than direct placental infection, is responsible for placental dysfunction and alteration of the placental transcriptome.

This protective coating is made by combining Epon 828 as a polymer matrix with modified layered-double-hydroxy (LDH) nanoparticles acting as corrosion inhibitor containers. To synthesize the coatings, nitrate was intercalated into Zn-Al-LDH layers through an aqueous co-precipitation method to obtain Zn-Al LDH-NO, and decavanadate replaced nitrate within the LDH layers through an anion exchange process to obtain Zn-Al LDH-(VO).
