[RCVS: case-study and role of substance abuse, Covid and psychotropic drugs].

Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS) is a condition defined by severe sudden-onset headaches, typically ‘thunderclap’ headaches, caused by multifocal cerebral vasoconstriction. Various triggers have been described, including illegal substances, medication and infections. We observed a 27 year old man that suddenly developed severe headaches during admission to a psychiatric ward, where RCVS was diagnosed as most likely clinical cause.

The risk of antidepressant-induced hyponatremia: A meta-analysis of antidepressant classes and compounds.

Background: Hyponatremia (hypoNa) is a potentially serious adverse event of antidepressant treatment. Previous research suggests the risk of drug-induced hyponatremia differs between antidepressants. This meta-analysis sought to determine the risk of antidepressant-induced hypoNa, stratified by different compounds and classes.

[Successful treatment with ECT of comorbid psychotic depression in Segawa syndrome].

We report the case of a 70-year-old man with Segawa syndrome who achieved full remission in three episodes of psychotic depression following electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). As maintenance drug therapy was unable to prevent relapse, maintenance ECT seemed necessary. Segawa syndrome is a rare metabolic disorder characterized by dystonia and possibly psychiatric symptoms.

Effect of Poly(Vinyl Pyrrolidone) on Iodine Release from Acrylate-Endcapped Urethane-Based Poly(Ethylene Glycol) Hydrogels as Antibacterial Wound Dressing.

Infections are still a major cause of morbidity in burn wounds. Although silver has been used strongly in past centuries as an anti-bacterial, it can lead to allergic reactions, bacterial resistance, and delayed wound healing. Iodine-based antibacterials are becoming an interesting alternative.

Proteomics as a tool to gain next level insights into photo-crosslinkable biopolymer modifications.

The distribution of photo-crosslinkable moieties onto a protein backbone can affect a biomaterial's crosslinking behavior, and therefore also its mechanical and biological properties. A profound insight in this respect is essential for biomaterials exploited in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. In the present work, photo-crosslinkable moieties have been introduced on the primary amine groups of: (i) a recombinant collagen peptide (RCPhC1) with a known amino acid (AA) sequence, and (ii) bovine skin collagen (COL BS) with an unknown AA sequence.
