Psychometrics of the patient-reported outcomes measurement information system measures in hemophilia: the applicability of the pediatric item banks.

Background: The use of patient-reported outcomes measures (PROMs) is important in hemophilia care, as it facilitates communication between patients and clinicians and promotes patient-centered care. Currently, a variety of PROMs with insufficient psychometric properties are used. Patient-reported outcomes measurement information system (PROMIS) measures, including Computer Adaptive Tests, were designed to measure generically and more efficiently and, therefore, are an alternative for the existing PROMs.

Reproductive seasonality of corriedale rams under extensive rearing conditions.

The objective of the present study was to describe seasonal changes in scrotal circumference (SC), live weight (LW), sperm morphology and plasma levels of testosterone (T) and thyroxine (T4) in young Corriedale rams reared under extensive conditions typical for the southern Latin American region. Pubertal development of intersertoli cell junctions in the testis of corriedale ram lambs.

The ultrastructure of the tight junctional complex of pubertal ram lamb Sertoli cells was studied in immersion-fixed samples and related to clinical data and a light microscopical classification of the degree of spermatogenesis attained in the corresponding seminiferous tubule. Although the process followed the general mammalian developmental trend for tight junction complex formation, 2 unusual ultrastructural features were detected: the presence of an active Golgi complex during the early stage of tight junction formation and the transitory presence of ribosomes on both faces of the ectoplasmic cisternae bordering the developing junctions. The significance of these findings is discussed.
