Introduction: This article presents the results of an international, multicenter, randomized, double-masked, placebo-controlled clinical study of Visomitin (Mitotech LLC, Moscow, Russian Federation) eye drops in patients with dry eye syndrome (DES). Visomitin is the first registered (in Russia) drug with a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant (SkQ1) as the active ingredient.

Methods: In this multicenter (10 sites) study of 240 subjects with DES, study drug (Visomitin or placebo) was self-administered three times daily (TID) for 6 weeks, followed by a 6-week follow-up period.

The paper presents the results of a study of the serum levels of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in 120 patients with types 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus complicated by diabetic retinopathy. All the patients with diabetes have been ascertained to show a rise in the levels of MCP-1 and VEGF. Calculation of VEGF/MCP-1 ratio is proposed to evaluate vascular bed lesion in diabetic patients.

The traveling magnetic field was used to treat primary open-angle glaucoma. The field was applied to the projection of cervical sympathetic ganglia of the patients. Hemodynamic parameters of posterior short ciliary arteries and central retinal artery were analysed along with visual evoked potentials, visual field limits, and visual acuity.

This comparative study was designed to evaluate effect of low-intensity speckle laser radiation in the green and red wavelengths on intraocular hemodynamics in 202 patients (202 eyes) with retinal vascular problems and without them. Irradiation was performed using "Izumrud" and "Rubin" adapters for an AMO-ATOS unit. Peak systolic velocity and peripheral resistance index in posterior short ciliary arteries and central retinal artery were measured.

This study included 45 children at the age from 5 to 17 years with type I diabetes mellitus complicated by diabetic retinopathy. All the patients showed retinal thickening at the macula and reduced amplitude of local electroretinogram suggesting compromised capillary circulation. The capillary blood flow was corrected by transcranial magnetotherapy with the use of an AMO-ATOS Ogolovie unit.
