Preeclampsia (PE) is a complex pregnancy-specific disorder characterized by hypertension, proteinuria, and systemic inflammation, posing significant risks to maternal and fetal health. This study investigates the role of growth arrest-specific protein 6 (Gas6) in PE pathogenesis using a rat model. Gas6 administration induces hallmark PE features, including hypertension, proteinuria, and significant alterations in placental gene expression.

While evidence supports the role of IgE-mediated mast cell activation in visceral pain development in IBS, the role of pseudoallergic MRGPRX2-mediated mast cell activation in this process remains unknown.
Objective: We investigated whether MRGPRX2-mediated mast cell activation plays a role in abdominal pain development in patients with IBS.
This review is the next installment of an annual series that discusses the synthetic routes to access 28 small molecule drugs that were approved worldwide in 2023. A brief description of each drug's mechanism of action, the history of its discovery and development, and the synthetic approaches published in primary or patent literature that were most likely used for clinical studies or development are included. Synthetic chemistry, used to convert complex intermediates to active compounds or build a new drug from basic building block chemicals, is critical to delivery of new drugs and treatments for disease to patients.

This study investigated the pathophysiology of PCB-induced trauma in horned and polled sheep (), focusing on factors contributing to incomplete concussion. Thirty-seven ( = 18 horned Scottish blackface and = 19 polled North Country mule) mature ewes (aged 4-10 years) were shot with PCB with varying cartridge power and PCB modifications, followed by clinical assessment and post-mortem analysis using magnetic resonance imagining (MRI) and gross pathology.
