Prospective study for the early detection of lung carcinoma in patients with HIV infection (GESIDA study 8815).

Introduction: Lung cancer (LC) screening detects tumors early. The prospective GESIDA 8815 study was designed to assess the usefulness of this strategy in HIV + people (PLHIV) by performing a low-radiation computed tomography (CT) scan.

Patients And Methods: 371 heavy smokers patients were included (>20 packs/year), >45 years old and with a CD4+ <200 mm nadir.

Tenofovir is a nucleotide analogue used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B and HIV infection. The safety of tenofovir is high but it has been described that tenofovir produces tubular toxicity and Fanconi's syndrome in some HIV-infected patients. To our knowledge this is the first documented case of bone involvement in Fanconi's syndrome in a patient treated with tenofovir for chronic hepatitis B without HIV coinfection.

Purity of various classes lipoproteins was analyzed after precipitation of low and very low density lipoproteins by means of heparin in presence of 1 M MnCl2. Polyacrylamide gel disc electrophoresis was shown to be suitable procedure for studies of protein, lipid and phospholipid spectra of individual lipoprotein classes in order to evaluate the state of lipid metabolism in patients with various clinical forms of cerebrovascular pathology.

[Changes in the spectra of lipoproteins and phospholipids in the blood serum of patients with chronic renal failure placed on programmed hemodialysis].

Lipid metabolism was examined over time in patients with chronic renal failure placed on programmed hemodialysis. Altogether 22 patients were examined, with the times of dialysis treatment lasting from 6 months to 3 years. In addition to routine studies of lipid metabolism, this patients' group was assessed for changes in the spectra of lipoproteins and phospholipids.
