Maintenance treatment of pemphigus with rituximab in real life: A single-center study of 50 patients.

Background: Following the RITUX 3 therapeutic trial, the French national diagnosis and care protocol (NDCP) for the treatment of pemphigus was updated in 2018. The updated protocol recommends initial treatment with rituximab (RTX) followed by maintenance therapy at 12 and 18 months, and potentially at 6 months where there are risk factors for early relapse. We evaluated these recommendations regarding the management of our own patients.

Use of tobacco cessation aids and likelihood of smoking cessation: A French population-based study.

Although smoking prevalence has been decreasing worldwide, sustained tobacco cessation remains a challenging goal for many smokers. Several types of tobacco cessation aids are available such as nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and electronic cigarette, the effectiveness of the latter is still a matter of debate. This study aims to test differences in successful smoking cessation according to the type of aid used, considering selection and confounding factors.

Application of machine learning to predict transport modes from GPS, accelerometer, and heart rate data.

Background: There has been an increased focus on active transport, but the measurement of active transport is still difficult and error-prone. Sensor data have been used to predict active transport. While heart rate data have very rarely been considered before, this study used random forests (RF) to predict transport modes using Global Positioning System (GPS), accelerometer, and heart rate data and paid attention to methodological issues related to the prediction strategy and post-processing.
