Aims: Uveal melanoma has a high propensity to metastasize. Prognosis is associated with specific driver mutations and copy number variations, and these can only be obtained after genetic testing. In this study we evaluated the efficacy of patient outcome prediction using deep learning on haematoxylin and eosin (HE)-stained primary uveal melanoma slides in comparison to molecular testing.

Histological parameters such as a solid or micropapillary growth pattern are well-described risk factors for recurrence. However, not every patient presenting with such a pattern will develop recurrence.

This study compares LUAD biopsies and resection specimens for their ability to provide prognostic and predictive parameters.
Methods: We selected 187 biopsy specimens with stage I and II LUAD.
This study tests the hypothesis that an ultrasound generated dynamic mechanical signal can attenuate bone loss in an estrogen deficient model of osteopenia. Eighty-four 16-week-old Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into six groups: baseline control, age-matched control, ovariectomy (OVX) control, OVX+5mW/cm(2) ultrasound (US), OVX+30mW/cm(2) US and OVX+100mW/cm(2) US. Low intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) was delivered transdermally at the L4/L5 vertebrae, using gel-coupled plane wave US transducers.

A rapid, sustained elevation of these molecules was recently reported after traumatic and ischemic brain injury. Inflammatory mechanisms and immune activation have been hypothesized to play a role in the pathogenesis of cerebral ischemia.
