The author analyzed dynamics and structure of occupational morbidity including pneumoconiosis in Rostov region of Russian Federation, since 1990 until now. They were compared with analogous parameters of previous historical period. Findings are that contemporary dynamics of anthracosilicosis clinical features is characterized by severily reduced terms of the disease development from medical registration of the diseased miner, earlier addition of malignancy, respiratory failure and other complications--that in aggregate causes earlier disablement and drastically reduced survival rate in occupational patients with anthracosilicosis.

The article covers data on wide prevalence of occupational neuro-sensory deafness in Russian Federation where nowadays three major deafness classifications are applied, international, for noise-related occupations and for medical and social examination. The authors analyzed present classifications of deafness, emphasized positive and negative aspects of each classification from occupational medicine viewpoint. Several classifications applied at the same time complicate professional activity of specialists solving diagnostic, occupational and social problems of patients with occupational deafness and result in conflicts.

The study based on Rehabilitation Center No 2 in Rostov region covered 100 male patients with dust obstructive bronchitis. The authors considered organisational and legal problems of medical rehabilitation for patients with occupational diseases caused by dust. The authors also specified and suggested stages of individual medical rehabilitation and efficiency criteria for rehabilitation, exeplified by dust obstructive bronchitis patients.

Current national classification of occupational bronchitis lacks to consider drastic changes in understanding pathogenesis of bronchial diseases over the recent decade, that leads to misunderstanding between occupational therapists and general practitioners in using this classification. The authors suggested a variant to classify occupational bronchial diseases: chronic occupational nonobstructive (simple) bronchitis and occupational COPD, that correspond to approaches accepted by international medical community. Tracheobronchial dyskinesia, asthmatic bronchitis and chronic pneumonia should be excluded from the classification.
