In an age where there is a remarkable upsurge in developing precision medicines, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) have emerged as a progressive therapeutic strategy. ADCs typically consist of monoclonal antibodies (mAb) conjugated to the cytotoxic payloads by utilizing a linker, combining the benefits of definitive target specificity of mAbs and potent killing impact of payload to achieve precise and efficient elimination of target cells. In addition to their well-established role in oncology, ADCs are currently demonstrating encouraging potential in addressing the unmet requirements in the treatment of autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Myeloid cell leukemia-1 (Mcl-1) is an antiapoptotic oncoprotein overexpressed in several malignancies and acts as one of the promising therapeutic targets for cancer. Even though there are several small molecule based Mcl-1 inhibitors reported, the delivery of Mcl-1 inhibitor at the target site is quite challenging. In this regard, we developed a series of mitochondria targeting luminescent cyclometalated iridium(III) prodrugs bearing Mcl-1 inhibitors via ester linkage due to the presence of Mcl-1 protein in the outer mitochondrial membrane.

Tubulin-related cortical dysgenesis or tubulinopathies include a wide range of brain cortical malformations that result from defects in genes responsible for the tubulin protein. Tubulin is an integral part of the cell cytoskeleton, and the development of the central nervous system depends on it. We present a case with characteristic imaging features that suggested tubulinopathy.

Controlling both UV and visible emissions in ZnO quantum dots (QDs) poses a significant challenge due to the inherent introduction of defects during the growth process. We have refined the photoluminescence (PL) emission characteristics of ZnO QDs through a single-step, reagent-free femtosecond pulsed laser ablation in liquid (fs-PLAL) technique. The ratio of the near band edge (NBE) to deep-level emission (DLE), which determines the shape of the QDs' optical emission spectrum, is precisely controlled by the ablation laser pulse parameters-namely, pulse energy and temporal duration.

As the avian embryo grows and develops within the egg, its metabolic rate gradually increases. Obligate avian brood-parasitic birds lay their eggs in the nests of other species to avoid the costs of parental care, and all but one of these brood-parasitic species are altricial at hatching. Yet the chicks of some altricial brood-parasitic species perform the physically demanding task of evicting, stabbing or otherwise killing host progeny within days of hatching.
