The basis for the management and documentation of multiresistant organisms (MRO) in medical facilities in Germany are the Infection Protection Act (IPA) and the recommendations given by the Commission for Hospital Hygiene and Infection Prevention at the Robert Koch Institute (KRINKO).With the Infection Protection Amendment Act an accounting capability for the treatment of patients with MRO will be established in the outpatient care sector. At the same time an electronic documentation is required.

Despite the fact that a p27KIP1 decrease has been documented in melanoma progression, the role of Skp2 in these tumours is unknown. We therefore examined by immunohistochemistry the expression of Skp2, p27KIP1 and Ki-67 in 10 naevi (Ns), 15 superficial spreading melanomas (SSMs), 10 nodular melanomas (NMs) and 14 melanoma metastases (Ms).

It may induce alterations in genomic or mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), especially C to T or CC to TT changes. Mutations or other alterations in mtDNA have been reported in a variety of human cancers and may be due to different mechanisms.

A greater part of this archived material, however, consists of solid tumors known for aberrations in coding and non-coding regions of the genome. Therefore, alterations of short tandem repeats (STRs) used in forensic casework are also possible.

Therefore, we performed loss of heterozygosity (LOH) analysis with polymerase chain reaction at seven different loci surrounding the p27KIP1/CDKN1B gene at 12p13 and direct DNA sequencing analysis of all exons. Furthermore, the immunohistochemical expression of p27KIP1 and Ki-67 was investigated.
