The results of a search for direct pair production of top squarks in events with two opposite-charge leptons (electrons or muons) are reported, using of integrated luminosity from proton-proton collisions at TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. To cover a range of mass differences between the top squark and lighter supersymmetric particles, four possible decay modes of the top squark are targeted with dedicated selections: the decay into a -quark and the lightest chargino with , the decay into an on-shell top quark and the lightest neutralino, the three-body decay and the four-body decay . No significant excess of events is observed above the Standard Model background for any selection, and limits on top squarks are set as a function of the and masses.

Searches for pair-produced scalar leptoquarks are performed using 20 fb[Formula: see text] of proton-proton collision data provided by the LHC and recorded by the ATLAS detector at [Formula: see text] TeV. Events with two electrons (muons) and two or more jets in the final state are used to search for first (second)-generation leptoquarks. The results from two previously published ATLAS analyses are interpreted in terms of third-generation leptoquarks decaying to [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] final states.

Cardiovascular abnormalities have been considered important extrarenal manifestations of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). However, little is known about their prevalence in patients with ADPKD undergoing hemodialysis (HD). To investigate whether cardiac abnormalities are more prevalent in these patients, clinical and echocardiographic manifestations of cardiovascular disease were evaluated in a group of 32 patients with ADPKD and a matched control group of 32 patients without diabetes treated by chronic HD for more than 6 months.
