Purpose: The concept of time toxicity of cancer treatment, defined as proportion of days from physical contact with the health care system, has been suggested as simple, patient-centered measure useful for shared decision making, particularly in incurable cancer. We investigated the extent of health care contacts in clinical practice in Danish patients with stage IV lung cancer starting first-line systemic anticancer therapies.

Methods: This is a nationwide cohort study of newly diagnosed patients with stage IV lung cancer in Denmark who initiated treatment during 2019-2021 and followed for up to 1 year.

The liquid fraction of digestate (LFD) from anaerobic digestion of food waste contains high nitrogen concentrations, and in some countries, the LFD is treated as wastewater. We modelled alternative LFD treatments, including pretreatment with the partial nitritation Anammox (PNA) process. The PNA effluent is discharged to the sewers to undergo further treatment by conventional nitrification and (post- or pre-) denitrification.

Reports indicate that owners believe the health care costs for their dogs are too high, yet few studies report on the actual costs. Most studies are based on surveys of owners, and there have been no studies carried out in Europe. The objective of our study was therefore to provide estimates of lifetime health care costs for dogs based on billed costs taken from records from veterinary clinics in Denmark.

Insufficient information on the content of vitamin K2 in our foods hinder estimation of the dietary intake. We aimed to establish content of eight vitamin K vitamers, vitamin K1 (phylloquinone; PK) and vitamin K2 (menaquinones; MK-4 to MK-10) in 88 composite food samples representing dairy, eggs, meat, fish, cereals, and plant-based alternatives to dairy. Combined with PK data for other foods, the dietary intake among Danes was estimated.

ELGANs (Extremely-Low-Gestational-Age Neonates; those born before 28 weeks gestation) are at risk for developing significant morbidities including retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), and cognitive impairment. The pathogenesis of each of these morbidities is complex, but a growing literature suggests that repeated transfusions of adult donor red blood cells (RBC) conveys a propensity to develop these disorders. The biological rationale for the propensities might vary with each morbidity.
