Article Synopsis
  • Chronic pain is a complex condition that makes treatment difficult, partly due to a lack of understanding of different patient subgroups based on psychological factors.
  • Researchers performed a study with data from 5,466 patients to identify these subgroups using factors like anxiety and depression, leading to the discovery of three distinct clusters with varying levels of psychological burden and treatment responses.
  • The study developed a prediction model using 15 psychometric questions, allowing for better-targeted therapies for patients based on their cluster, which could enhance treatment outcomes.

We wanted to understand how callers with chest pain formulate their concerns and are helped further during telephone triage.
