Six healthy male subjects received equimolar amounts of two 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) precursors, 5-hydroxy-L-tryptophan (5-HTP) and gamma-L-glutamyl-5-hydroxy-L-tryptophan (glu-5-HTP), on two occasions in a randomised cross-over study. There were marked increases in urinary 5-HTP and 5-HT excretion after infusion of both compounds. Mean urinary excretion rate of 5-HT, which was < 0.

The effects of indomethacin and captopril on local cutaneous blood flow changes and weal induced by intradermal injections of bradykinin were assessed in two randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies in healthy volunteers. Alterations in cutaneous blood flow were estimated by laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) and erythema area. LDF output, erythema area and weal volume increased with incremental bradykinin dose.

The effects of ketoprofen on frusemide-induced diuresis, natriuresis and renin release were studied in 12 healthy male volunteers. Each received frusemide 40 mg once daily with either ketoprofen 100 mg twice daily or placebo for two periods of 5 days separated by a treatment-free period according to a randomized, double-blind, cross-over study design. Ketoprofen significantly reduced frusemide-induced diuresis on Day 1 but not on Day 5 of treatment.
