Analysis of clinical diagnosis for all patients receiving antenatal betamethasone in a community hospital.

Objective: Identify which obstetrical diagnoses are associated with suboptimal antenatal betamethasone administration.

Methods: We present a retrospective, cohort study of patients who received betamethasone due to a risk for preterm delivery, between 7/2013 and 9/2016 at our institution. Details of betamethasone administration were recorded including the diagnosis leading to betamethasone.

Nonimmune hydrops fetalis due to autosomal recessive hereditary spherocytosis.

Background: Hereditary spherocytosis is the most common form of inherited hemolytic anemia and is characterized by a structural defect in the RBC membrane. The disorder is commonly inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion and leads to a mild to moderate anemia. The autosomal recessive form of hereditary spherocytosis is rarely reported in association with fetal anemia and hydrops fetalis.

Arteriovenous malformation identification after conservative management of placenta percreta with uterine artery embolization and adjunctive therapy.

Placenta percreta is a complication of pregnancy with significant morbidity and mortality rates. Conservative management may be considered when fertility preservation is desired or to possibly reduce morbidity when there is invasion of pelvic structures. We present 3 cases of antenatally diagnosed placenta percreta that were managed conservatively.

The effects of maternal position on the amniotic fluid index.

Objective: We investigated the influence of maternal positioning on the measurement of the amniotic fluid index (AFI) in third-trimester pregnancies. We wanted to determine whether a change in the position of the women, from supine-flat to supine-elevated, would influence the measurement of the AFI.

Methods: Each patient had AFI measurements obtained in both positions by the same investigator.
