Contrasting Weather and Stocking Effects on Initial Coppice Response in Brazil.

In plantations, coppice rotations often yield less than initial rotations. The TECHS project (Tolerance of Clones to Hydric, Thermal and Biotic Stresses) studied short rotation coppicing across a 3000 km gradient. The main objective of this work was to compare the survival, sprouting, and initial growth of clones managed and to examine factors that might influence the productivity of the coppice rotation: climate, genotypes, and stocking.

Analysis of the antigenic and immunogenic properties of the native rabies virus glycoprotein purified by Lens culinaris lectin affinity chromatography.

Rabies virus glycoprotein (RABV-G) is responsible for the recognition of specific cell surface receptors and induces the production of neutralizing antibodies (VNA). Since RABV-G is a glycoprotein, this work aimed to evaluate Lens culinaris (LCA) chromatography as a simple and effective purification method. The purity and identification of the protein obtained were analyzed by SDS-PAGE, ELISA and lectin-binding assay.

Blood mercury concentrations in preschool children and potential risk factors in São Paulo, Brazil.

Environmental exposure of preschool children to mercury can elevate blood mercury levels (BML) and negatively affect their health. This study aimed to determine BML in preschool children from Brazil's largest city and explore potential associated risk factors. Blood samples were collected in 2013 from 2436 children (age 1-5 years) attending 50 daycare centers (DCC) located in São Paulo, Brazil.

HEPATOPULMONARY SYNDROME IN PEDIATRIC PATIENTS WITH PORTAL HYPERTENSION - AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW.

Background: Hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS) is characterized by the triad of abnormal arterial oxygenation caused by intrapulmonary vascular dilatations (IPVD) in the setting of advanced liver disease or portal hypertension, impacting the patient's quality of life and survival. There are still many gaps in the literature on this topic, especially in pediatrics, with practices frequently based on extrapolation of data obtained from adults.

Objective: Provide a synthesis of the current knowledge about HPS in children.
