: Extensive research has emphasised the persistent challenges and failures in providing hospitalised patients with fundamental evidence-based nursing care, often resulting in grave consequences for patient safety. Recommendations from implementation research indicate that a tailored theory- and research-based implementation strategy targeting contextual determinants can optimise the implementation of evidence-based clinical practice for the benefit of patients. This study evaluated the feasibility of an implementation strategy designed to improve the quality of nursing care by targeting behavioural and environmental barriers in a hospital setting.

Caring and Health of Close Family Members of Frail Older Persons Recently Discharged from Acute Hospital Care: A Comparative Cross-Sectional Study.

Multimorbidity in older people is strongly linked to the need for acute hospital care, and caregiving activities usually become more complex after patients are discharged from hospital. This may negatively impact the health of close family members, although this has not been comprehensively investigated. This study aimed to explore the general and mental health of close family members caring for frail older (>65) persons recently discharged from acute hospital care, making assessments in terms of gender, relationship to the older person, and aspects of caring.

Development of an Implementation Strategy Tailored to Deliver Evidence-Based and Person-Centred Nursing Care for Patients with Community-Acquired Pneumonia: An Intervention Mapping Approach.

Community-acquired pneumonia is a serious public health problem, and more so in older patients, leading to high morbidity and mortality. However, this problem can be reduced by optimising in-hospital nursing care. Accordingly, this study describes a systematic process of designing and developing a tailored theory- and research-based implementation strategy that supports registered nurses (RNs) in delivering evidence-based and person-centred care for this patient population in a hospital setting.

An educative nutritional intervention supporting older hospital patients to eat sufficiently using eHealth: a mixed methods feasibility and pilot study.

Background: Insufficient food intake is common in older hospital patients and increases the risk of readmission, mortality, and decline in functional status. To improve food intake in older patients, an eHealth solution (Food'n'Go) enabling them to participate in their own nutritional care was implemented in a hospital unit. We developed an educative nutritional intervention (ENI) to support hospitalized older adults (aged ≥ 65 years) to participate in their own nutritional care using Food'n'Go.

STING activation counters glioblastoma by vascular alteration and immune surveillance.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is an aggressive brain tumor with a median survival of 15 months and has limited treatment options. Immunotherapy with checkpoint inhibitors has shown minimal efficacy in combating GBM, and large clinical trials have failed. New immunotherapy approaches and a deeper understanding of immune surveillance of GBM are needed to advance treatment options for this devastating disease.
