The case report of laryngeal Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) in 59 year old HIV-negative man infected by herpes virus 8 (HHV-8) is in the paper. The primary onset of KS was on the legs. Lesion of laryngeal mucosa was developed sequentially, resulted in laryngeal stenosis and led to application of tracheostome.

The glycolipid biosurfactant complex from Rhodococcus ruber IEGM 231 had a stimulatory effect on the production of IL-12, IL-18, and reactive oxygen species by cells of the innate immunity. This effect depended on the composition of cell cultures and presence of LPS. It was primarily observed in non-stimulated cultures.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), named lycocitin 1, 2 and 3, and a peptide with a monoisotopic molecular mass of 3038.70 Da were detected in the venom glands of the wolf spider Lycosa singoriensis. Two of the peptides, lycocitin 1 and 2, are new AMPs whereas lycocitin 3 is highly homologous to lycotoxin II isolated from the venom of spider Lycosa carolinensis.
