Article Synopsis
  • Live imaging is a technique that helps scientists study cells and tissues in real time, but it can cause cell damage due to light exposure, known as phototoxicity.
  • This study explored how different levels of light affect gene expression in small intestinal epithelial cells (enteroids), revealing that even low doses can disrupt important cellular functions related to stress responses and metabolism.
  • The findings highlight the need for caution when interpreting results from live imaging due to potential unnoticed damage, emphasizing that researchers should be aware of phototoxicity's impact on cell function and mechanisms.

Article Synopsis
  • Mental disorders are a big health problem, and a study explored a substance called β-lactolin from whey protein to see if it can help improve mood in people.
  • In the study, 60 healthy adults aged 45-64 took either β-lactolin or a fake pill for 6 weeks, and their mood was checked using questionnaires.
  • Results showed that those who took β-lactolin had less anxiety and stress, felt better overall, and had improved immune responses in their saliva compared to those who received the fake pill.

Aim: As a treatment for tubal infertility, falloposcopic tuboplasty (FT) is one of the options for patients who wish to conceive naturally. Based on the results of FT, we propose an appropriate time of transitioning to assisted reproductive technology (ART) for tubal infertility.

Objects And Methods: We examined the outcomes of cases of tubal infertility during the period from June 1999 through March 2021 who were performed tuboplasty at our hospital using the FT catheter system under laparoscopy.

The mechanism by which the neonicotinoid pesticide clothianidin (CLO) disrupts the intestinal microbiota of experimental animals is unknown. We focused on α-defensins, which are regulators of the intestinal microbiota. Subchronic exposure to CLO induced dysbiosis and reduced short-chain fatty acid-producing bacteria in the intestinal microbiota of mice.
