Incidence of hepatitis B virus infection (HBV) has been greatly reduced globally after the introduction of universal vaccination programs. However, another potential threat was noticed almost 2 decades ago, which is the selection of antibody escape HBV strains. Antibody or immune escape strains of HBV carry mutations in the S gene which encodes "a" determinant region located at amino acid positions 124 to 149.

Cyclosporin encephalopathy is a well-known entity, which is clinically characterized by altered mental status, vision problems, focal neurological deficits and seizures. The exact pathophysiology of the cyclosporin encephalopathy has not yet been defined. We report the diffusion-weighted MR imaging and proton MR spectroscopy findings in a case of cyclosporin encephalopathy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBetween July 1992 and July 2001, 81 patients with de novo adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treated according to the German Multicenter Study Group for Adult ALL (GMALL) 01/81 protocol were evaluated in order to analyze the effect of aberrant myeloid antigen expression on prognosis. We observed myeloid antigen aberrant expression in 21 of the adult ALL cases. We did not observe any effect of aberrant myeloid antigen expression on the time to achieve remission, relapse rate, and death rate.
