New Shikimic Acid Derivatives From the Marine-Derived Actinomycete Streptomyces sp. G666 and Their Antimicrobial Activities.

Analysis of an antimicrobial extract from the agar-based culture of the marine-derived actinomycete Streptomyces sp. G666 led to the isolation of three new shikimic acid derivatives, streptomine A-C (1-3), along with five known compounds (4-8). Their structures were established by their spectral data analyses, including MS and NMR.

Influenza has been responsible for multiple global pandemics and seasonal epidemics and claimed millions of lives. The imminent threat of a panzootic outbreak of avian influenza H5N1 virus underscores the urgent need for pandemic preparedness and effective countermeasures, including monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). Here, we characterize human mAbs that target the highly conserved catalytic site of viral neuraminidase (NA), termed NCS mAbs, and the molecular basis of their broad specificity.

New insights into the molecular architecture of neurons by cryo-electron tomography.

Cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) visualizes natively preserved cellular ultrastructure at molecular resolution. Recent developments in sample preparation workflows and image processing tools enable growing applications of cryo-ET in cellular neurobiology. As such, cryo-ET is beginning to unravel the in situ macromolecular organization of neurons using samples of increasing complexity.

Multi-horizon event detection for in-hospital clinical deterioration using dual-channel graph attention network.

Objective: In hospitals globally, the occurrence of clinical deterioration within the hospital setting poses a significant healthcare burden. Rapid clinical intervention becomes a crucial task in such cases. In this research, we propose an end-to-end deep learning architecture that interpolates high-dimensional sequential data for the early detection of clinical deterioration events.
