Coexistence of Celiac Disease and Allergic Wheat Sensitivity: An Observational Study of Daily Clinical Practice.

Introduction: Although separate immunogenic mechanisms are involved, IgE-type sensitization to wheat and celiac disease (CD) may coexist. We observationally assessed the importance of this relationship in daily practice using CD and wheat sensitization screenings.

Methods: Celiac antibody (CA) screening and food prick tests (FPTs) were requested simultaneously from patients who presented to the Allergy Clinic between January 2022 and December 2023 and had any complaint accompanied by CD symptoms/findings (non-celiac group).

A Rare Case of Sunitinib-Induced Hyperammonemic Encephalopathy and Hypothyroidism in Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma.

Sunitinib has become a standard treatment agent for metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) for several years. However, various adverse events have been reported. We present a rare adverse effect of hyperammonemic encephalopathy induced by sunitinib.

Rectal duplication as an unusual cause of chronic perianal fistula in an adult: report of a case.

Duplication of the rectum is a rare embryologic event, but it should be considered as a possibility when perianal fistulas and abscesses remain resistant to conventional standard surgical treatment modalities over the long term. We report the case of a 57-year-old woman who underwent many operations over 30 years for persistent perianal fistulas. After radiological assay by computed tomography, fistulography, and barium enema studies, we performed surgery to remove a cystic mass in the retrorectal region, which was subsequently found to be a rectal duplication.

An effective omentoplasty technique in laparoscopic surgery for hydatid disease of the liver.

Objectives: The objectives of this study were to investigate the characteristics and outcome of patients with hydatid disease of the liver who were laparoscopically managed at our clinic and to define technical details including an effective method of omentoplasty with helical fasteners.

Methods: Between January 1998 and November 2000, 13 patients, mean age 36 years (range 23 to 63 years), with hydatid disease of the liver were considered for laparoscopic surgery in our department. All the patients underwent laparoscopic surgical interventions.
