Objective: To examine active school travel trends and predictors among Australian secondary school students (aged 12-17) between 2009 and 2018.

Methods: Three cross-sectional surveys (2009-10: N=13,790; 2012-13: N=10,309; and 2018: N=9,102) using a web-based self-report questionnaire. Logistic regression was used to identify differences in active travel (to and/or from school every weekday) between survey years and predictors.

Education and counselling for people with drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) is recommended by the World Health Organization, given the arduous treatment journey. A model of education and counselling involving counsellors and peer counsellors, standard sessions and novel education tools was piloted in the high DR-TB burden context of Daru, Papua New Guinea. The pilot contributed to high retention in care, highlighting the need for investment in scalable models.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), which is epidemic in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), may threaten gains made in tuberculosis (TB) control, as DM is both a major risk factor for developing active TB and it can lead to adverse TB treatment outcomes.
