Background: Colorectal cancer is the most common cancer globally, and its prevalence is high in minority populations.

Objectives: To investigate the effectiveness of a young adult community health advisor (YACHA)-led intervention in enhancing the colorectal cancer (CRC) screening uptake rate among asymptomatic South Asians aged 50 to 75 years residing in Hong Kong and to investigate the acceptability of this intervention.

Methods: A randomized controlled trial design was adopted.

We developed a Ru(II)-catalyzed redox-neutral C-H olefination of -methoxybenzamides with vinyl sulfones. The reaction is operationally simple and conducted at ambient temperature and does not require silver additives or external oxidants, making it suitable for late-stage functionalization. Notably, we leveraged the leaving group ability of sulfinate anion to synthesize 3-methyleneisoindolin-1-ones through a tandem C-H olefination/cyclization/elimination sequence at ambient temperature.

Article Synopsis
  • Antioxidants protect sperm cells during freezing and thawing, with melatonin showing antioxidative effects.
  • The study assessed the effects of melatonin at different concentrations (0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 mM) in tris-based extenders on Jamnapari goat sperm quality after freezing.
  • Results indicated that melatonin improved sperm quality parameters, particularly at the 1.0 mM concentration, which was most effective in preventing cryodamage to the sperm cells.

We have developed two triazole-based covalent organic polymers (COPs) with donor-acceptor motifs. The keto-enriched COP demonstrated exceptional oxygen activation electrochemical stimuli, driven by strong push-pull interactions. studies and DFT calculations confirmed the critical role of enamine carbon positive charges in enhancing performance, setting new benchmarks in COP design.

Herein we report chemoselective transfer hydrogenation (TH) of aldehydes in aqueous medium using a series of homobimetallic Ru(II) catalysts. Two homobimetallic complexes (Ru1 and Ru3) and one monometallic complex (Ru2) have been employed in the catalytic reduction of aldehydes. Bimetallic complex [(p-cymene)(RuCl)L] (Ru3) is obtained from the reaction of Schiff base ligand 2,2'-((1E,1'E)-((3,3',5,5'-tetraisopropyl-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4,4'diyl)bis(azaneylylidene))bis(methaneylylidene))bis(4-bromophenol) (HL) and characterized by various spectroscopic and analytical techniques.
