Assessment of contaminants in sand production from petroleum wells offshore Sabah.

Sand production remains a huge obstacle in many oil and gas fields around the world, but the hazards of contaminants riding on the produced sand are often not emphasised. Improper disposal of the sand could see the toxic leaching into the environment including the food chain, endangering all living organisms. The impending sand production from an oilfield offshore Sabah also suffers from the lack of hazards identification; hence, this study was conducted to assess the contaminant on the produced sand.

Estimation of rainwater harvesting by the reflectance of the purity index of rainfall.

Rainwater harvesting is an effective alternative practice, particularly within urban regions, during periods of water scarcity and dry weather. The collected water is mostly utilized for non-potable household purposes and irrigation. However, due to the increase in atmospheric pollutants, the quality of rainwater has gradually decreased.

Modified fixed nanobite tandem appliance for rapid correction of developing Class III malocclusion.

Aim: Rapid correction of developing Class III malocclusion in pediatric patients using a method with decreased reliance on patient compliance and increased patient comfort.

Method: The modified fixed nanobite tandem appliance (MFNTA) consists of three components, two fixed and one removable. The maxillary fixed appliance consists of a nickel-titanium fixed maxillary expander and a soldered buccal arm used for Class III elastic traction.
