Background: In the Netherlands, the HPV-vaccine uptake was 52% during the 2009 catch-up campaign (birth cohorts 1993-1996). This increased to 61% in the regular immunization program (birth cohorts 2000-2001). However for birth cohorts 2003-2004 the uptake declined to 45.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: In the Netherlands, the bivalent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine has been offered to preadolescent girls via the National Immunization Program in a 2-dose schedule since 2014. The current study estimates vaccine effectiveness (VE) against HPV infections up to 4 years postvaccination among girls eligible for routine 2-dose immunization.
Methods: A cohort study (HAVANA2) was used in which participants annually filled out an online questionnaire and provided a vaginal self-sample for determination of HPV by the SPF10-LiPA25 assay, able to detect 25 HPV types.
In 2009, human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination was offered to girls born in 1993-1996 in a catch-up campaign, followed in 2010 by the implementation of the vaccination in the National Immunization Programme (NIP) for girls born in 1997. To monitor the tolerability of the 2009 catch-up campaign, we investigated the occurrence of adverse events within 7 days after vaccination with the bivalent HPV vaccine. A total of 6000 girls were asked to participate, including 1500 from each birth cohort from 1993 to 1996.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe differential effects of sulfhydryl (SH)-blocking agents on hormone and DNA binding by the chick oviduct progesterone receptor were investigated. Previous studies have demonstrated inhibition of steroid-receptor interaction by SH-blocking agents and protection against inhibition by bound hormone. The present results indicate that the SH group required for steroid binding is within or near the hormone-binding site itself, and that a second SH group (or groups) is involved in the binding of receptor to DNA.
