Telomere biology disorders (TBDs) are inherited conditions associated with multisystem manifestations. We describe clinical and functional characterisation of a novel TERT variant. Whole-genome sequencing was performed along with single length analysis ().

In-channel water treatment systems remove excess nutrients through biological, chemical, and physical processes associated with the hyporheic zone. However, the impact of surface and groundwater interactions on these treatment processes is poorly understood. This research aims to assess the influence of varying groundwater conditions (neutral, drainage water, and groundwater seepage) and different bed sediment hydraulic conductivities on nitrogen and phosphorus dynamics in in-channel treatment systems.

Article Synopsis
  • The study followed patients with early-stage follicular lymphoma (ESFL) who were treated with involved field radiotherapy (IFRT) alone or combined with chemotherapy (cyclophosphamide/vincristine/prednisolone) and later added rituximab to the treatment, analyzing its effects over an 11.3-year period.* -
  • Results showed that those receiving IFRT plus rituximab (IFRT + R-CVP) had significantly better progression-free survival rates (62% vs. 43%) compared to IFRT alone, even though overall survival rates didn’t differ significantly.* -
  • Additionally, higher expression of the CD8A gene in biopsy samples was associated with improved outcomes, suggesting that immune

We demonstrate a transnationally situated dialogue as a method to bring ethnographic and historical research in Brazil, East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda), India, Russia and Spain into conversation to show three cancer epistemics sites (research, detection, and care access) where the politics of cancer epistemics are at play. First, in the field of research, we show how certain ways of knowing, and certain questions about and interests in cancer, are privileged over others. Using examples from Spain and East Africa, we highlight how a shift towards microbiological and high-technology research has outpriced many more locally grounded research agendas, ignoring questions of industrial and capital accountability in cancer aetiology.

Article Synopsis
  • The NHL29 trial evaluated the effectiveness of combining ibrutinib with R-mini-CHOP chemotherapy in patients over 75 with newly diagnosed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).
  • Results showed a 2-year overall survival rate of 68% and a progression-free survival rate of 60%, with an overall response rate of 76%.
  • Despite some serious adverse events, including infections and diarrhea, improvements in health-related quality of life were noted among responders, indicating the treatment's viability for elderly patients.
