Aim: Study the state of collective immunity against poliomyelitis in 7 regions of Russia in the last 3 years.

Materials And Methods: 2579 sera were studied for antibodies against poliomyelitis virus. Antibodies (AT) against 3 types of viruses were determined in neutralization reaction in RD cell culture, the state of collective immunity in the examined individuals was evaluated by the percent of individuals with AT against a type of poliovirus and geometric mean AT titer.

Analysis of the slow Ca(2+)-responses of brown preadipocytes of ground squirrel Spermophillus undulatus and mouse was carried out. The mouse brown preadipocytes demonstrated low but prominent responses to noradrenalin with the maximum at 3 and 10 microM being the less effective. The ground squirrel brown preadipocytes practically did not practically respond to 10 nM-10 microM, whereas 30-600 microM noradrenalin was able to raise intracellular [Ca2+]i up to 600 nM with 300 microM agonist being the most effective.

The effect of bidistilled modified water obtained by treating bidistilled water with static electric field in the cathode compartment of a diaphragm electrolyzer on the production of tumor necrosis factor and activity of natural killer cells of mice was studied. It was found that bidistilled modified water added to cultured murine macrophages increases the tumor necrosis factor production 2.5-3-fold.

Irradiation with electromagnetic waves (8.15-18 GHz, 1 Hz within, 1 microW/cm2) in vivo increases the cytotoxic activity of natural killer cells of rat spleen. In mice exposed for 24-72 h, the activity of natural killer cells increased by 130-150%, the increased level of activity persisting within 24 h after the cessation of treatment.
