Aim: In our institute, we have been testing EGFR T790M resistance mutations since 2019, which is the most common resistance mutation that develops during first-line, second- line EGFR TKI treatment of EGFR mutant lung adenocarcinomas. The importance of this study is that the identification of this mutation will allow the use of an effective third-generation TKI. In this article, we report on studies from January 2022 to August 2024, compared with our results from the 2019-2021 period.

Purpose: This cross-sectional observational study evaluated the frequency of dental erosion in 12-year-old schoolchildren in Hungary and its connection to gender, geographical region, eating/drinking habits, and to socioeconomic factors, such as the educational level of their mothers.
Materials And Methods: 579 randomly selected children aged 12 (287 boys and 292 girls) were examined in our cross-sectional study from 14 different regions in Hungary. Clinical examinations were carried out by the same examiner, using the 'Basic Erosive Wear Examination' (BEWE) index.
Mobile phones have been used to monitor mobility changes during the COVID-19 pandemic but surprisingly few studies addressed in detail the implementation of practical applications involving whole populations. We report a method of generating a "mobility-index" and a "stay-at-home/resting-index" based on aggregated anonymous Call Detail Records of almost all subscribers in Hungary, which tracks all phones, examining their strengths and weaknesses, comparing it with Community Mobility Reports from Google, limited to smartphone data. The impact of policy changes, such as school closures, could be identified with sufficient granularity to capture a rush to shops prior to imposition of restrictions.

Pathologic parameters, such as tumor size, lymph node status, and histological grade are well accepted to guide treatment decisions in clinical practice. Estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor and HER2 status are also routinely assessed in today's pathology laboratories to provide further information on predictive and prognostic factors affecting patients' care.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFTo address the biological heterogeneity of lung cancer, we studied 199 lung adenocarcinomas by integrating genome-wide data on copy number alterations and gene expression with full annotation for major known somatic mutations in this cancer. This showed non-random patterns of copy number alterations significantly linked to EGFR and KRAS mutation status and to distinct clinical outcomes, and led to the discovery of a striking association of EGFR mutations with underexpression of DUSP4, a gene within a broad region of frequent single-copy loss on 8p. DUSP4 is involved in negative feedback control of EGFR signaling, and we provide functional validation for its role as a growth suppressor in EGFR-mutant lung adenocarcinoma.
