When diagnosed, PoPH can be effectively treated, and specific therapies can lead to a substantial reduction in pulmonary circulation pressure, facilitating the safe performance of liver transplantation. Echocardiography is recommended as a first-line method for the non-invasive diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension and serves as a valuable screening tool for patients being evaluated for liver transplantation (LT).

Solidified Salt Melts of the NaCl-KCl-CeF-EuF System as Promising Luminescent Materials.

This study presents the results of investigating the interaction between the CeF₃-EuF₃ system and the NaCl-KCl salt melt using spectroscopic methods. It was found that CeF₃ ions undergo no significant changes upon dissolution in the NaCl-KCl melt. In contrast, the dissolution of EuF₃, both individually and within the CeF₃-EuF₃ system, is accompanied by redox reactions leading to the formation of Eu⁺.

Equimolar AsS/FeO Nanocomposites Fabricated by Dry and Wet Mechanochemistry: Some Insights on the Magnetic-Fluorescent Functionalization of an Old Drug.

Multifunctional nanocomposites from an equimolar AsS/FeO cut section have been successfully fabricated from coarse-grained bulky counterparts, employing two-step mechanochemical processing in a high-energy mill operational in dry- and wet-milling modes (in an aqueous solution of Poloxamer 407 acting as a surfactant). As was inferred from the X-ray diffraction analysis, these surfactant-free and surfactant-capped nanocomposites are -AsS-bearing nanocrystalline-amorphous substances supplemented by an iso-compositional amorphous phase (a-AsS), both principal constituents (monoclinic -AsS and cubic FeO) being core-shell structured and enriched after wet milling by contamination products (such as nanocrystalline-amorphous zirconia), suppressing their nanocrystalline behavior. The fluorescence and magnetic properties of these nanocomposites are intricate, being tuned by the sizes of the nanoparticles and their interfaces, dependent on storage after nanocomposite fabrication.

What conceptual spaces can do for Carnap's late inductive logic.

In the last published account of his late inductive logic, the Basic System of Inductive Logic, Rudolf Carnap introduced a new element to the systems of inductive logic, namely the so-called attribute spaces. These geometrical structures model the meanings of the predicates of the object language and have a similar structure as the conceptual spaces employed by cognitive scientists like Peter Gärdenfors. I show how the development of the theory of conceptual spaces helps us to see the addition of attribute spaces as a step forward in explicating the concept of confirmation.

Marfan syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder mainly caused by mutations within FBN1 gene. The disease displays large variability in age of onset or severity and very poor phenotype/genotype correlations have been demonstrated. We investigated the hypothesis that phenotype severity could be related to the variable expression level of fibrillin-1 (FBN1) synthesized from the wild-type (WT) allele.
