Purpose: In PAX6 syndrome, it is still not clear, whether prenatally, parallel to the iris tissue developmental anomaly, there is neural ectodermal, neural crest, or mesodermal cell deposition at the corneal endothelium, affecting endothelial structure and function. In addition, because of the postnatal corneal inflammation and commonly appearing secondary glaucoma, progressive endothelial changes are expected. Our purpose was to study the corneal endothelium in subjects with PAX6 aniridia, using in vivo confocal laser scanning microscopy.

SDF-1-3' (c801G > A) was genotyped in 103 patients with diabetic retinopathy and 31 age- and sex-matched non-diabetic controls. Central retinal and choroidal thickness was measured by swept-source optical coherence tomography.

AAK is characterized by limbal stem cell insufficiency, impaired corneal epithelial cell differentiation and abnormal cell adhesion, which leads to centripetal spreading vascularization, conjunctivalization, and thickening of the cornea. Our aim was to examine the subbasal nerve plexus and central corneal stromal microstructure in subjects with congenital aniridia, using confocal laser scanning microscopy CLSM.

Objective: To assess the experiences of congenital aniridia patients in Hungary, with visual impairment using a questionnaire developed by the ANIRIDIA-NET.
Patients And Method: Patients completed the Hungarian version of the 20-item ANIRIDIA-NET questionnaire with our assistance.
The process of illicit drug trafficking on darknet markets is highly affected by various trust factors. Although the factors potentially affecting customers' risk perception can be identified based on previous research, cyber criminology has not produced empirical research ranking the importance of the specific factors. This study was designed to fill this gap by developing a tool that measures the importance of the various trust factors.

Objective: To determine the prevalence of ocular diseases in congenital aniridia by analyzing patients from a Hungarian centre.
Patients And Methods: Patients at the Department of Ophthalmology of Semmelweis University, examined between October 2005 and May 2022, have been included.
OnkoNetwork is a patient navigation program established in the Moritz Kaposi General Hospital to improve the timeliness and completeness of cancer investigations and treatment. The H2020 SELFIE consortium selected OnkoNetwork as a promising integrated care initiative in Hungary and conducted a multicriteria decision analysis based on health, patient experience, and cost outcomes. In this paper, a more detailed analysis of clinical impacts is provided in the largest subgroup, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.

A könnyűlánc-amyloidosis ritka, multidiszciplináris jelentőségű kórkép, melynek hátterében az esetek döntő hányadában egy amyloidogen fehérje, a csontvelő kóros plazmasejtjeiben termelődő monoklonálisimmunglobulin-molekula lambda típusú könnyűláncának felszaporodása áll. A klinikai tünetek az érintett szervek függvényében igen változatosak és gyakran nem specifikusak, ezért a betegség sok esetben későn kerül felismerésre.

The authors present the case of a 49-year-old man, who used etofenamate gel to treat leg pain. Following sun exposure, haemorrhagic, atypical lesions appeared and after rapid spread of the symptoms, the patient was hospitalized.

Aims: This study retrospectively examined clozapine prescribing patterns against National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines as treatment-resistant illness emerged in a first-episode psychosis cohort.

The incidence of breast cancer in elderly patients has increased in the last years, perhaps due to better and earlier diagnostics and a longer life expectancy. Radiotherapy as a local adjuvant treatment after breast surgery, improves local control and overall survival. Due to frailty or comorbidity current guidelines cannot always be applied and the treatment decision-making process involving these older patients often remains the task of the treating physician rather than a fully established tumor board.

The primary aim of OnkoNetwork is the improvement of clinical outcomes via timely access to quality assured and defragmented healthcare services. The Horizon 2020 funded SELFIE project has selected OnkoNetwork for in-depth qualitative and quantitative evaluation.

Purpose: To investigate the differences in biometry data of eyes with unilateral congenital cataract and the contralateral normal eyes in pediatric patients.
Setting: Pediatric Ophthalmology Division, Ophthalmology Department, Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary.
Design: Retrospective case series.
Aim: The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence and clinical correlates of aggression and violence in individuals presenting with first-episode psychosis (FEP) and to evaluate whether this prevalence has changed in recent years when compared to a similar previous study.
Methods: Retrospective cross-sectional study of clinical case notes and database records using a keyword search of a sample of patients with FEP (n = 132) aged between 18 and 65 years presenting from a geographically defined catchment area to a secondary referral psychiatric service over a 4-year period (2010-2013 inclusive). Use of the Modified Overt Aggression Scale to retrospectively assess aggression and violence in the week prior to, and post, presentation with FEP.
Background: Distinguishing between a primary psychotic disorder with concurrent substance abuse (PPD+SA) and a substance-induced psychotic disorder (SIPD) can be diagnostically challenging. We aimed to determine if these two diagnoses are clinically distinct, particularly in relation to psychopathology. In addition, we aimed to examine the specific clinical features of cannabis-induced psychotic disorder (CIPD) as compared to primary psychotic disorder with concurrent cannabis abuse (PPD+CA) and also to SIPD associated with any substance.

However, there are limited epidemiologic studies of C. trachomatis infection in an unselected pediatric population since routine screening and treatment of pregnant women was implemented in the United States in 1993.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBone tissue regeneration is a major, worldwide medical need, and several strategies have been developed to support the regeneration of extensive bone defects, including stem cell based bone grafts. In addition to the application of stem cells with high osteogenic potential, it is important to maintain proper blood flow in a bone graft to avoid inner graft necrosis. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) may form both osteocytes and endothelial cells; therefore we examined the combined osteogenic and endothelial differentiation capacities of MSCs derived from adipose tissue, Wharton's jelly, and periodontal ligament.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the association between SDF1-3'G(801)A polymorphism and NV complications of retinal vein occlusion (RVO).
Methods: 130 patients with RVO (median age: 69.
Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between optic nerve head (ONH) parameters and branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) using spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT).
Methods: Both eyes of 40 patients with unilateral BRVO (mean age: 67.4 ± 11.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of axial length (AL) on the thickness of intraretinal layers in the macula using optical coherence tomography (OCT) image analysis.
Methods: Fifty three randomly selected eyes of 53 healthy subjects were recruited for this study. The median age of the participants was 29 years (range: 6 to 67 years).
Background: Results of ocular biometric measurements in retinal vein occlusion (RVO) eyes are still inconclusive and controversial. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between ocular axial length (AL), vitreous chamber depth (VCD) and both central (CRVO) and branch retinal vein occlusions (BRVO) using optical low coherence reflectometry (OLCR).
Methods: Both eyes of 37 patients with unilateral CRVO (mean age: 66 ± 14 years, male:female - 21:16) and 46 patients with unilateral BRVO (mean age: 63 ± 12 years, male:female - 24:22) were enrolled in this study.
