MRCC is a package of ab initio and density functional quantum chemistry programs for accurate electronic structure calculations. The suite has efficient implementations of both low- and high-level correlation methods, such as second-order Møller-Plesset (MP2), random-phase approximation (RPA), second-order algebraic-diagrammatic construction [ADC(2)], coupled-cluster (CC), configuration interaction (CI), and related techniques. It has a state-of-the-art CC singles and doubles with perturbative triples [CCSD(T)] code, and its specialties, the arbitrary-order iterative and perturbative CC methods developed by automated programming tools, enable achieving convergence with regard to the level of correlation.

The presence of a human T-cell lymphotropic virus (HTLV)-related endogenous sequence, HRES-1, in the human genome has been documented. The HRES-1 genomic locus is transcriptionally active and contains open reading frames. Antibodies 232 and 233, specific for synthetic peptides pep14-24 and pep117-127, corresponding to two nonoverlapping HTLV-related regions in the longer open reading frame of HRES-1, recognize an identical 28-kDa protein in H9 human T cells.

Methionine sulphoximine (MSO) is a potent convulsant agent used in the study of experimental epilepsy. The changes of the synaptic endings were examined in the rat cerebral and cerebellar cortex, hippocampus and brainstem during MSO provoked convulsions. The alterations were analysed by morphometric methods.

Ultrastructure of the cerebral and cerebellar cortex, hippocampus and nucleus facialis was examined in albino rats during MSO convulsions. Three, 6 and 12 h after peritoneal injection of the drug (600 mg/kg) perfusion and dissection were done. Convulsions appeared 4-5 h, status epilepticus 8-9 h after drug administration.

Multilamellar bodies appearing in the rat's cerebellar Purkinje cells were studied ultrastructurally in methionine sulphoximine convulsions, hypovolaemic shock and carbon monoxide poisoning. It is concluded that multilamellar bodies are pathological formations due to toxic hypoxic factors.

The ultrastructure of the rat cerebellar cortex and the activity of succinic dehydrogenase were examined during methionine sulphoximine (MSO)-provoked convulsions. The animals were killed 3, 6 and 12 hours after the injection of 600 mg/kg of MSO. Convulsions appeared 4--5 hours, status epilepticus developed 8-9 hours after the injection.

The glycolytic substrate utilization and energy consumption of hemispheres of adult mice were studied by converting the heads into a closed system by decapitation. It was concluded that progressive insufficiency of renal function is paralleled by an increase in brain permeability for glucose and a progressive reduction in brain energy metabolism.

[Changes in cerebral metabolism during experimental anuria].

Psychiatr Neurol Med Psychol (Leipz)

January 1975

After experimental ureterotomy in mice, the changes which occurred in cerebral metabolism were studied. A significant increase in the cerebral glucose and glycogen level as well as of degradation power was noticed 25 hours after the operation. The level of lactic acid production in the same period of renal insufficience indicated a gradual decreasing tendency.
