Background: A significant proportion of young people do not respond to the NICE recommended treatment for anorexia nervosa: Family Therapy. Whilst historically these young people would be admitted to inpatient services, which are associated with greater treatment cost, greater risk of relapse, and worse outcome, more recently evidence is building for the effectiveness of day programmes. One day programme that has been found to be effective is the Intensive Treatment Programme (ITP) of the Maudsley Centre for Child & Adolescent Eating Disorders in London, UK.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the global epidemiological trends of laryngeal cancer, which, despite being rare (only 1% of total cancers), has a high prevalence among head and neck cancers.
  • - Data from multiple sources showed that the age-standardized incidence and mortality rates are low overall, but regions like the Caribbean and Central/Eastern Europe exhibit higher rates, with tobacco and alcohol consumption identified as key risk factors.
  • - Although the global incidence of laryngeal cancer is decreasing, particularly among men, increasing rates in females and younger individuals suggest disparities, warranting further research into access to treatment and other influencing factors.
