Muscleblind like splicing regulators (MBNLs) govern various RNA-processing steps, including alternative splicing, polyadenylation, RNA stability and mRNA intracellular localization. In myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1), the most common muscular dystrophy in adults, MBNLs are sequestered on toxic RNA containing expanded CUG repeats, which leads to disruption of MBNL-regulated processes and disease features of DM1. Herein, we show the significance of MBNLs in regulating microtranscriptome dynamics during the postnatal development of skeletal muscles and in microRNA (miRNA) misregulation observed in mouse models and patients with DM1.

Postponed parenthood is considered one of the most extensive changes in the process of family formation. Among the many reasons for deferred parenthood, those related to greater feelings of incompetence as a potential parent, self-focus, perceiving parenthood as a burden, fearing the changes that the birth of a child may bring to a person's life, financial insecurity, and worrying about the child's future seem particularly important. Since little is known about the motives for delayed parenthood in relation to anxiety and psychological maturity, the main goal of our study was to verify how these variables may be related to each other and whether maturity for parenthood mediates the direct association between anxiety and the motives for delayed parenthood.

U7 snRNA is part of the U7 snRNP complex, required for the 3' end processing of replication-dependent histone pre-mRNAs in S phase of the cell cycle. Here, we show that U7 snRNA plays another function in inhibiting the expression of a subset of long terminal repeats of human endogenous retroviruses (HERV1/LTR12s) and LTR12-containing long intergenic noncoding RNAs (lincRNAs), both bearing sequence motifs that perfectly match the 5' end of U7 snRNA. We demonstrate that U7 snRNA inhibits LTR12 and lincRNA transcription and propose a mechanism in which U7 snRNA hampers the binding/activity of the NF-Y transcription factor to CCAAT motifs within LTR12 elements.

Computed tomography (CT) has been recognized as a robust and dependable technique for delineating osseous alterations and anomalies within hard tissues. The necessity for accurate diagnosis and management of patients with temporomandibular disorders in dental practices has increasingly come to the forefront. There is ongoing scholarly debate regarding the equivalence of diagnostic outcomes yielded by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), which offers greater accessibility in dental settings than traditional CT, in identifying bony changes within the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).

Dental pulp is a valuable and accessible source of stem cells (DPSCs) with characteristics similar to mesenchymal stem cells. DPSCs can regenerate a range of tissues and their potential for clinical application in regenerative medicine is promising. DPSCs have been found to express low levels of Class II HLA-DR (MHC) molecules, making them potential candidates for allogeneic transplantation without matching the donor's tissue.

Subarachnoid neurocysticercosis (SANCC) is caused by an abnormally transformed form of the metacestode or larval form of the tapeworm Taenia solium. In contrast to vesicular parenchymal and ventricular located cysts that contain a viable scolex and are anlage of the adult tapeworm, the subarachnoid cyst proliferates to form aberrant membranous cystic masses within the subarachnoid spaces that cause mass effects and acute and chronic arachnoiditis. How subarachnoid cyst proliferates and interacts with the human host is poorly understood, but parasite stem cells (germinative cells) likely participate.

: The research indicates that painful experiences can significantly affect the fear of cancer recurrence among cancer survivors, which is a distressing concern that influences both physiological and psychological recovery. This cross-sectional study aims to advance our comprehension of the associations between total pain and the fear of recurrence in post-treatment cancer patients by examining two potential mediators: psychological flexibility and mentalization. Three hundred and thirty-five participants (aged 22 to 88, 49.

Human needs, and their fulfillment, are the building blocks of human development, personality, and well-being. However, no published paper in the field of psychology has focused on exploring aesthetic needs. Maslow (1986) gave the topic little more than a paragraph; and Dweck [1], in her elegant Unified Theory of Motivation, Personality, and Development, never mentions aesthetic needs.

Physiological adaptation of the eye to the visual perception of near objects consists of the "near triad": convergence, accommodation, and pupil miosis. Normally, these tend to revert when one stops fixating on a near object. Spasm of the near reflex (SNR) is a pathological phenomenon, which manifests itself by the persistence of the above-mentioned adjustments, which prevents the eye from returning to its relaxed state.

Although the role of aesthetics and aesthetic education in everyday life was discussed as early as the ancient philosophers, the psychological mechanisms shaping the aesthetic quotient have hardly been investigated by empirical studies. The aim of this study was to examine the direct relationship between experience and aesthetic competence, and the mediating role of need for cognition. The study involved 201 Polish adults, aged 18 to 76 (M = 26.

Introduction: The complexity of the associations between religiosity and indicators of well-being suggests the presence of a mediating mechanism. Previous studies indicate that religion may influence subjective well-being because it helps to find meaning and purpose. Therefore, the aim of our study was to examine the mediating role of the presence and search dimensions of meaning in life in the relationship between religious meaning system and life satisfaction in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Job burnout is considered an outcome of prolonged exposure of employees to stress. Although many studies have focused on the presence of a direct association between stress and burnout, we still know very little about mediators that indirectly play a role in this relationship. Previous analyses have determined that self-efficacy acts as a mechanism that explains the overall relationship between stress and burnout.

Abscisic acid (ABA) affects plant physiology by altering gene expression, enabling plants to adapt to a wide range of environments. Plants have evolved protective mechanisms to allow seed germination in harsh conditions. Here, we explore a subset of these mechanisms involving the gene, which encodes one of a small family of poorly characterised Bro1-like domain-containing proteins, in plants subjected to multiple abiotic stresses.

Background: Ferrucci, a philosopher and psychotherapist, presented an original three-factor aesthetic intelligence concept in his book "Beauty and Soul" (2009). The subject of this article is the presentation of work on the construction of a scale for measuring one of the three dimensions of aesthetic intelligence, the ability to integrate beauty (AIB). This is probably the first attempt to empirically operationalize this concept.

The reaction of heterolytic dihydrogen splitting by frustrated Lewis pairs P(R) and B(CF) (where R = -butyl and 1-adamantene) is driven by strong three-body contributions which originate from the induction and charge transfer effects. The three-body effect increases dramatically as a function of inter-hydrogen distance. As predicted by the symmetry adapted perturbation theory, the "frustration" of Lewis pairs originates from the dual role of the exchange effects.
