Drug resistance is a major obstacle in cancer treatment. Herein, four novel organometallic complexes, with the general formula [Ru(η--cymene)(HL)Cl]Cl and [Rh(η-CMe)(HL)Cl]Cl, were developed to target multidrug-resistant (MDR) cancer cells, where HL denotes 8-hydroxyquinoline-derived Mannich bases (HQCl-pyr and HQCl-pip). The aim of the complexation was to obtain compounds with improved drug-like properties.

SZV-2649 exerted antiarrhythmic effects against coronary artery occlusion/reperfusion induced ventricular arrhythmias in rats and in acetylcholine- and burst stimulation induced atrial fibrillation in dogs. SZV-2649 inhibited hERG and GIRK currents in HEK cells (IC: 342 and 529 nM, respectively).

Starting from 2-naphthol as a precursor, the reaction led to the formation of ring-closed products, while in the case of a 1-naphthol-type precursor, the desired biaryl ester was isolated. The synthesis of a bifunctional precursor starting from 5-chloro-8-hydroxyquinoline, morpholine, and ethyl glyoxylate via modified Mannich reaction is reported.

Most epidemiological studies conclude that Hungary faces the most severe burden in association with this disease. However, for various reasons estimates and population-based studies show discrepancies.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAlveolar macrophages (AMs) act as gatekeepers of the lung's immune responses, serving essential roles in recognizing and eliminating pathogens. The transcription factor (TF) early growth response 2 (EGR2) has been recently described as required for mature AMs in mice; however, its mechanisms of action have not been explored. Here, we identified EGR2 as an epigenomic regulator and likely direct proximal transcriptional activator in AMs using epigenomic approaches (RNA sequencing, ATAC sequencing, and CUT&RUN).

Based on the database of National Cancer Registry and Central Statistical Office, age-standardized incidence and mortality rates per 100,000 person-years were calculated for each county for 15 cancer types and 3 time periods. East-West divide was apparent in incidence and mortality of lung cancer, with larger weight in East (Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Heves, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Békés counties).

The efficiency of the two routes of the cyclization process was revealed and the influence of diverse amide side chains was explored. In this regard compounds bearing a tertiary amine function in the amide side chain resulted in the formation of the lactam product, while the formation of dimer derivatives was observed in the case of other KYNA amides.

The syntheses of such molecules of broad relevance are facilitated by acid, base or heterogenous catalysis. However, degradation of the -analogous Mannich bases are reported to yield alkoxyalkyl derivatives via the -Mannich reaction.

The importance of amino acid based (primary, secondary, biogenic and synthetic) organic additives was proven by the conduction of numerous test reactions. Thoroughly extended investigations, directly focusing on amino acid catalysis, which is an emerging and up-to-date field of catalysis and green chemical processes, have been conducted.

Kynurenic acid (KYNA), a tryptophan (Trp) metabolite, plays an important role in behavioral functions, and abnormal KYNA levels have been observed in neuropsychiatric conditions. The current challenge lies in delivering KYNA to the CNS owing to its polar side chain.

This approach not only eliminates the need for large amounts of solvents, thereby reducing waste generation, but also finds applications in chemical and materials synthesis. The focus of this study is on the synthesis of quinazolinone derivatives by ball milling, in particular evodiamine and rutaecarpine analogues.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the strategy of the cystic fibrosis newborn screening (CFNBS) programme in Hungary based on the results of the first year of screening. A combined immunoreactive trypsinogen (IRT) and pancreatitis-associated protein (PAP) CFNBS protocol (IRT/IRT×PAP/IRT) was applied with an IRT-dependent safety net (SN). Out of 88,400 newborns, 256 were tested screen-positive.
