Background: Decreased hamstring flexibility and the angle of peak torque (APT) occurring at a shorter muscle length are considered risk factors for hamstring strain injury. Subjects with decreased hamstring flexibility have an APT that occurs at a shorter muscle length; hence, the susceptibility to hamstring strain injury could be associated with the APT occurring at a shorter muscle length. Low-intensity eccentric exercise (ECC-Ex) may reduce hamstring strain injury risk in the subjects with decreased hamstring flexibility by allowing the APT to occur a longer muscle length.

The purpose of this study was to compare the tibial rotational stability of anatomical double-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstructed knees with single-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstructed knees during a high-demand activity. Total of 66 subjects, (22 with double-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, 22 with single-bundle anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, and 22 healthy control individuals) were examined in this study. Using a 9-camera motion analysis system, motion subjects were recorded performing during a drop landing and cutting.

Background: Tapered femoral stems have been shown to produce less thigh pain and stress shielding than other cement-less stem designs. The purpose of this study was to examine the performance of this type of femoral stem in Japanese patients.

Methods: A series of 40 total hip arthroplasties with a Synergy tapered femoral component were performed in 33 patients between March 1999 and February 2001 at our institution.
