Outcomes of the Victo™ adjustable artificial urinary sphincter in the treatment of male incontinence.

Objectives: To report the clinical outcomes of the Victo™ (Promedon, Cordoba, Argentina) adjustable artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) implantation in a cohort of patients with severe urinary incontinence (UI) after prostate surgery.

Patients And Methods: This study enrolled patients with UI following prostate surgery who underwent a Victo implantation between May 2018 and December 2023. Patients were prospectively evaluated at baseline, and at 3 and 12 months after device activation, and thereafter annually.

Efficiency of two-member crews in delivering prehospital advanced life support cardiopulmonary resuscitation: A scoping review.

Background: Advanced Life Support (ALS) during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is frequently administered by two-member crews. However, ALS CPR is mostly designed for larger crews, and the feasibility and efficacy of implementing ALS guidelines for only two rescuers remain unclear.

Objective: This scoping review aims to examine the existing evidence and identify knowledge gaps in the efficiency of pre-hospital ALS CPR performed by two-member teams.

An individual participant meta-analysis of mirabegron in multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injury.

Introduction: Our objective was to conduct an individual patient data meta-analysis (IPDMA) of the two published randomized placebo-controlled trials of mirabegron in people with neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) due to spinal cord injury (SCI) or multiple sclerosis (MS).

Methods: We identified two randomized, placebo-controlled trials. We extracted individual patient data from the trials and evaluated two primary outcomes: change in maximum cystometric capacity and change in the patient perception of bladder condition (PPBC).

Refractive Outcome After Corneal Lenticule Implantation Ex Vivo Non-Human Study.

Purpose: To evaluate changes in corneal refractive parameters after implantation of a stromal lenticule of different thickness. We assume that the refractive outcome depends on the optical power of the used lenticule.

Methods: We conducted an ex-vivo non-human study on 33 normotonic porcine eyeballs divided into two groups, for 4D and 8D human lenticule implantation.

Mitragyna speciosa (Kratom) poisoning: Findings from ten cases.

Kratom is a mixture of compounds that are present in the leaves of the tropical tree Mitragyna speciosa. It is used as a psychoactive agent with both opiate and stimulant-like effects. In this case series we describe the signs, symptoms, and the management of kratom overdose in the prehospital setting and in intensive care.

Video Emergency Calls in Medical Dispatching: A Scoping Review.

Background: Video emergency calls (VCs) represent a feasible future trend in medical dispatching. Acceptance among callers and dispatchers seems to be good. Indications, potential problems, limitations, and directions of research of adding a live video from smartphones to an emergency call have not been reviewed outside the context of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).

Non-technical skills in pre-hospital care in the Czech Republic: a prospective multicentric observational study (NTS study).

Background: Non-technical skills (NTS) are important for the proper functioning of emergency medical ambulance crews but have hardly been researched in the conditions of clinical pre-hospital care. The primary objective of this study, therefore, is to describe the use of NTS in practice. The secondary objective is to compare if the performance of NTS varies according to the type of case.

Pilot implementation of the competence of Czech paramedics to administer sufentanil for the treatment of pain in acute trauma without consulting a physician: observational study.

Background: The use of intravenous opioids in the traumatic pain in pre-hospital care in the Czech Republic is based primarily on the indication of a physician. Graph-theoretical evaluation of the inelastic propensity rules for molecules with destructive quantum interference.

We present a method based on graph theory for the evaluation of the inelastic propensity rules for molecules exhibiting complete destructive quantum interference in their elastic transmission. The method uses an extended adjacency matrix corresponding to the structural graph of the molecule for calculating Green's function between the sites with attached electrodes and consequently states the corresponding conditions the electron-vibration coupling matrix must meet for the observation of an inelastic signal between the terminals. The method can be fully automated and we provide a functional website running a code using Wolfram Mathematica, which returns a graphical depiction of destructive quantum interference configurations together with the associated inelastic propensity rules for a wide class of molecules.

Mechanical properties of non-centrosymmetric CePtSi and CePtB.

Intravesical instillation of onabotulinum toxin A embedded in inert hydrogel in the treatment of idiopathic overactive bladder: A double-blind randomized pilot study.

Objective: It was hypothesized that increasing the time for which onabotulinum toxin A (OnabotA) is exposed to the urothelium following intravesical instillation will augment its effect. TC-3 is an inert heat-sensitive hydrogel, which creates an intravesical bulk providing a slow release of the embedded drug after instillation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of OnabotA, embedded in inert TC-3 hydrogel, in patients with idiopathic overactive bladder (OAB).

Renal Proteomic Responses to Severe Sepsis and Surgical Trauma: Dynamic Analysis of Porcine Tissue Biopsies.

Although the burden of septic acute kidney injury continues to increase, the molecular pathogenesis remains largely obscure. The aim of this exploratory study was a discovery-driven analysis of dynamic kidney tissue protein expression changes applied for the first time in a classic large mammal model of sepsis. The structure of 1-methyl-2-(prop-2-en-1-ylsulfan-yl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium bromide, C7H11N2S(+)·Br(-), has monoclinic (P21/c) symmetry. In the crystal, the components are linked by N-H⋯Br and C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure of the title compound undeniably proves that methimazole reacts through the thione tautomer, rather than the thiol tautomer in this system.
