Cotton-based textiles are ubiquitous in daily life and are prime candidates for application in wearable triboelectric nanogenerators. However, pristine cotton is vulnerable to bacterial attack, lacks antioxidant and ultraviolet (UV)-protective abilities, and shows lower triboelectric charge generation against tribonegative materials because it is present in the neutral region of the triboelectric series. To overcome such drawbacks, herein, a facile layer-by-layer method is proposed, involving the deposition of alternate layers of polyethylenimine (PEI) and sodium alginate (SA) on cotton.

Penile Hair Tourniquet Syndrome, a subtype of Penile Tourniquet Syndrome, is a rare condition and a pediatric surgical emergency seen in infants whereby a constricting hair coil strangulates the penis most often at the coronal sulcus, leading to edema, ischemia and necrosis, If untreated, it can potentially lead to development of a urethrocutaneous fistula or even urethral transection and penile amputation. Therefore, a well-timed intervention can prevent complications and lifelong unhappiness. Herein, we present a case of an 11-month-old boy who presented with near total amputation of the glans and underwent two-staged repair with a satisfactory outcome.

In the past few decades, contamination of urban children's parks (UCPs) with potentially toxic elements (PTEs) has been attracting more and more interest; however, assessment of eco-environmental and child exposure risks particularly in developing countries remains limited. The current study investigated PTE (Cr, Ni, Zn, As, Cd, and Pb) concentrations, potential sources, and their health risk assessment in UCP soils of 12 major cities in Pakistan. The results showed that the mean concentration of Ni exceeded the SEPA-permissible limit in all UCP sites, while other PTEs were found to be within acceptable limits.

This work reports the successful functionalization of l-proline on the surface of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) synthesized via a simple, cost-effective hydrothermal method. Moreover, the chemical attachment of Cu/Cu nanoparticles on the surface of SPION@l-proline was done by an in-situ deposition method. We report the results of the (EPROMPT) CoreValve Evolut PRO Prospective Registry, which sought to evaluate the real-world performance of the CoreValve Evolut PRO transcatheter heart valve (THV) according to computed tomography-defined extent of LVOT calcium. The prospective, investigator-initiated, multicenter registry includes patients who underwent TAVI using the CoreValve Evolut PRO/PRO+ THV system.

Improving preparticipation screening of candidates for sports necessitates establishing the prevalence of high-risk cardiovascular conditions (hr-CVC) that predispose young people to sudden cardiac death (SCD). Our accurate, novel protocol chiefly involved the use of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) to estimate this prevalence. Middle and high school students from a general United States population were screened by means of questionnaires, resting electrocardiograms, and CMR to determine the prevalence of 3 types of hr-CVC: electrocardiographic abnormalities, cardiomyopathies, and anomalous coronary artery origin from the opposite sinus with intramural coronary course (ACAOS-IM).
