Introduction: Neonatal screening for congenital heart defects at birth can miss some heart defects, sometimes few critical ones, and the scenario is even worse in those neonates who had never undergone a neonatal checkup (home deliveries). Immunization clinic can serve as a unique opportunity as the second checkpoint for the screening of the children. A history- and examination-based test can serve as an effective tool to screen out children with heart defects.

A total 402 Enterobacteriaceae isolates were recovered from blood and rectal swabs of 1,000 infants admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Jawaharlal Medical College and Hospital Aligarh, India. Carbapenamase producers were determined by Carba NP phenotype biochemical assay. Out of 402 isolates, it was the first time three of the isolates were identified as Enterobacter aerogenes carrying bla bla and bla genes.

We studied the molecular mechanism of resistance in extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of one of the hospitals in North India. A total of 3000 clinical samples were collected from a NICU (January 2009 to February 2011), of which 523 strains were K. pneumoniae positive and 262 of them were ESBL-producing K.

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of parenteral testosterone on penile length, preputial skin and side effects in patients with hypospadias.

Materials And Methods: 23 patients with hypospadias were included in this study. An oily solution, each ml of which contained testosterone propionate 25 mg, and testosterone enanthate 110 mg, equivalent to 100 mg of testosterone was given deep intramuscularly 4, 3 and 2 weeks before reconstructive surgery at the dose of 2 mg/kg body weight.
