Purpose: To assess the relationships between aortic stiffness, wall thickness, and flow reversal in patients with cryptogenic stroke and healthy controls.
Background: Blood flow reversal is a possible mechanism for retrograde embolism in the setting of high-risk atherosclerotic plaques in the descending aorta (DAo). Evidence suggests that pulse wave velocity (PWV) is a determinant of blood flow reversal and can be reduced by the destiffening effect of renin-angiotensin system inhibitors (RASI).
Purpose: To evaluate the impact of antihypertensive therapy on in vivo changes in PWV and flow reversal in patients with cryptogenic stroke.
Objective: We aim to review the imaging features of eosinophilic esophagitis on fluoroscopy and present how they can correlate with endoscopic and pathologic findings.
Results: Eosinophilic esophagitis is a chronic immune-mediated disease that results in esophageal dysfunction. Upper esophagogastroduodenoscopy is high yield and required for biopsies to demonstrate the hallmark histologic findings of eosinophil-predominant inflammation.
