An Infected, Noncoronary, Bare Metal Stent Presenting as a Right Groin Abscess.

Bare metal stent infections complicating peripheral endovascular stenting are rare but can be associated with devastating morbidities. The current standard of care necessitates explantation and extra-anatomical bypass of the affected limb. We report the case of a patient presenting with a right groin abscess with draining sinuses secondary to an infected common femoral and right external iliac artery bare metal stent.

Direct Sciatic Nerve Electrical Stimulation for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Type 1.

Objective: Foot and leg pain in complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) presents a challenge even with neuromodulation techniques such as spinal cord stimulation (SCS). We report our experience with a novo technique of direct sciatic nerve electrical stimulation (DISNES) for intractable foot and leg pain in CRPS I.

Materials And Methods: Following Research Ethics Board (REB) approval, data were gathered for 16 patients (10 women and 6 men, age 26-61 years) who had been subjected to ipsilateral DISNES.

Fast-track thrombolysis protocol for acute limb ischemia.

Objective: Catheter-directed thrombolysis in the treatment of acute lower extremity arterial occlusions often requires several interventional sessions to generate successful outcomes. It is typically an expensive procedure, necessitating extended hospital length of stay (LOS) that may be associated with an increase in both local and systemic hemorrhagic complications. Five years ago, we created the fast-track thrombolysis protocol for arteries (FTTP-A) to deal with these concerns.

Approach to pseudomyxoma peritonei.

Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) is a mucinous tumour of the appendix that spreads into the peritoneal cavity in the form of gelatinous deposits. The incidence of PMP is believed to be approximately 1-3 out of a million per year. Nonetheless, due to its indolent nature, it is usually discovered at an advanced stage and severely impacts quality of life.

Stent patency in patients with advanced chronic venous disease and nonthrombotic iliac vein lesions.

Objective: Midterm patency results of iliac vein stents placed for nonthrombotic iliac vein lesions (NIVLs) are not widely known. Previously published studies involving large series of patients with iliac vein stent placement have failed to clearly demonstrate the outcomes for patients with NIVLs and advanced disease. To further study this issue, we reviewed our series of 268 iliac vein stents placed for NIVLs.

Safety and efficacy of stenting nonthrombotic iliac vein lesions in octogenarians and nonagenarians in an office setting.

Objectives Treatment options for venous insufficiency are rapidly evolving in the office setting and include venography, intravascular ultrasound, and venous stenting. Non-thrombotic iliac vein lesions assessment and treatment in an office setting is currently an area of interest. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of evaluating non-thrombotic iliac vein lesion with this office-based procedure in octogenarians and nonagenarians.

Treatment of upper extremity venous aneurysms with a polytetrafluoroethylene-covered stent.

Background Venous aneurysms of the upper torso are uncommon in contrast to the abdomen and lower extremities. Mostly silent, they can cause significant morbidity. Large or symptomatic venous aneurysms are generally treated with open resection.

The Clinical Efficacy of Balloon-Assisted Maturation of Autogenous Arteriovenous Fistulae.

Background: Delayed maturation of arteriovenous fistulae (AVF) among patients who require hemodialysis (HD) can lead to catheter sepsis with its resultant morbidity and mortality. Some have proposed that sequential balloon-assisted maturation (BAM) may accelerate the maturation times of these accesses. On the other hand, serial balloon angioplasty of normal vein may result in stenosis and delay maturation.

Ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm after endovascular aortic aneurysm repair thrombosis.

Background Complete thrombosis of an aortic endograft after an endovascular aortic aneurysm repair is a rare complication. The majority of thrombotic events occur in the iliac limbs. Case presentation We present the case of a patient who presented with acute limb ischemia as the result of a thrombosed infra-renal aortic endograft.

Sebaceous carcinoma of eyelid.

The authors are presenting here, a case of sebaceous carcinoma in a 50-year-old male who presented with 6-month history of a fungating mass in the right eye near medial canthus. Exenteration of eye was done, and a diagnosis of sebaceous carcinoma was made on histopathological examination.
